For weeks now, whenever I drive NY Route 690 toward home, there is a billboard that catches my attention, and every time I see it I think to myself – I need to do something with that.
It’s an advertisement for Mike’s Hard Lemonadeย (not sponsored) and it boasts – “What laughter tastes like….” Hmm. I see you, Mike. Very clever advertising. I mean, who doesn’t want the taste of laughter tickling their tastebuds as often as they possibly can? I definitely have that in common with the marketing team from Mike’s – laughter is one of my favorite flavors.
So that got me thinking… What tastes like laughter to me?
Most recently, laughter tasted like sirloin skewers with red and yellow peppers marinated in Italian dressing with a side of pasta salad. Some years before, laughter tasted like margarine…I Can’t Believe It’s Not Butter, to be exact. And there’s that time it tasted like unsweetened chocolate wafers straight from the package and into the mouth (“If it’s good enough for Pop, it’s good enough for me.” ~Lauren).
I share here three of the many many foods that are guilty of either being the catalyst for laughter (I’m talking to you, margarine & chocolate), or for mingling with laughter to produce a mealtime that’s simply unforgettable.
What’s that famous quote? So much amazing food, so little time. Was that it? I can’t remember…
Anyway, I can safely say that anything that tastes like laughter will forever be a close second to my numero uno all-time favorite food ——>Mom’s meatballs straight from the saucepan! And let me tell you – these are no laughing matter…I take Mom’s meatballs very seriously! ๐
What does laughter taste like to you? I’d love to know!
Have a great week, my friends!
Annie
XO
Prosecco and peaches taste like laughter to me! Prosecco because bubbles remind me of giggles and peaches because I can’t eat one without a big goofy grin because they’re so good and the season goes by so quickly! Love your soul snacks, Annie. Little doses of sunshine in my day.
Prosecco and peaches??? OMG – yes! Together? Apart? Doesn’t matter…they’re happening! Thank you, my friend! xo
That is such a sweet post, compelling me to recall my favorite food :).There are so many, it’s hard to choose! But my laughter or happy food has to be a good cup of masala chai with my favorite chocolate cookies!!
Yum! Makes me happy just thinking about it! Thanks, my friend!
I needed to something positive and fun like this! Love the phrase, never seen the advertisement though! What does laughter taste to me like? A slice of homemade cake? Lol!
Yay! That makes me happy! Oh yes – I think cake was invented for the soul purpose of making us happy! ๐
Laughter tickling my taste buds! I love it! ๐ Right now it would have to be fresh picked raspberries straight off the bush and into the mouth! ๐ Next week….who knows!
Oh yeah – that’s sure to stir up some giggles! Would love to know what next week brings! ๐
Margarine? hahaha I guess you had to be there. ๐ I would say my “taste like laughter” would be French Fries dipped in a chocolate milkshake.
I haven’t had French fries dipped in a chocolate milkshake in so long! That’s a fun one!! ๐
What a fun read, Annie. Mom’s homemade anything is cherished. Keep laughing and keep spreading joy. ๐
Thank you, Anu! ๐
What a sweet post Annie, loved reading it. Keep laughing & smiling & sharing yummy recipes with us! ๐
Thank you, Manali…so happy you enjoyed it! <3
I love this post Annie! Never did I seriously consider what laughter tasted like, maybe because I laugh way too much..maybe everything tastes like laughter? But I think I’ve got it – craft beer, lol!!! Mostly, genuine Pilsners. They make me happy for realz! Cheers!
Hahahah! Now why does that not surprise me!?! ๐ Too fun! Cheers, my friend! ๐
Haha, unsweetened chocolate wafers, wow, thats a true chocolate lover. Cake and truffles would have to be mine! I can never choose which I love more but I get happy each time I see each one ๐ . Have a good week! Take care.
My dad, ‘Pop’, loves his sweets! You can probably guess where this is going! ๐ So many fun, funny times! ๐
I love that laughter tasted like margarine to you at one point. I love margarine too, I’ll admit. If I have to pick (how do I pick just one!?) I would say laughter to me is a juicy, perfectly grilled steak with a skewer of grilled shrimp on top!!! Hilarious ๐
We definitely went through a margarine phase – but the laughter actually stemmed from an hysterical moment I had with my hubby about its name… OMG – it’s a great memory!
Wow Annie! When pondering over what foods taste like laughter to me, I came to the realization that I eat wayyyy too much! Lol! Like you, my happiest memories revolve around food and sharing meals with friends and family!
Hahhaahaha! Par for the course! It’s the best, isn’t it!
I’ve never seen that Mikes Hard Lemonade advertisement. I’m not sure they are using that phrase correctly though, because it tastes super sour and doesn’t make me laugh at all. ๐ No offense to Mike! Now, YOU are using that phrase correctly! All the things you named sound wonderful! Hmmm… what does laughter taste like to me? Probably halloween candy, ice cream (my dad and I use to eat it together and those memories are filled with laughter), and a Christmas feast. Thanks for getting me thinking about wonderful food and laughter related memories!! XOXO
Hahaha! You crack me up! I can imagine all of those tasty morsels producing great memories with loads of laughter! Glad I could get you thinking about them… Have a beautiful afternoon, my dear! XOXO
Laughter definitely tastes like my Grandma’s skorpe, peanut butter cups, my mom’s pea pod salad, the strawberry soup my sister made me once, and my dad’s Thanksgiving dinners :). I’m loving remembering all the good times food has brought me so THANK YOU for this post!
So happy this post could resurrect some happy memories! That’s what it’s all about!
I can think of a few … a big plate of poutine with two forks. A box of fresh donuts from the bakery. Christmas morning cinnamon rolls. I love how food weaves in to the most special family moments. Thanks for reminding me ๐
Some of my happiest and funniest moments have revolved around food! That’s no joke! ๐ ๐
The taste of laughter tickling your tastebuds…love it! Such a fun quote, Annie!
Hahaha! Thank you, Gayle! Wishing you a happy day! ๐
I would love to try your mom’s homemade meatballs. I bet they are nothing short of amazing!! Laughter to me? Hmmm…I think you know the answer to this one – my mom’s Christmas day dinner. Simply the best!! Thanks for putting a smile on my face, my friend. Have a wonderful week! XOXO
I knew it! I knew it!! Simply the best! Here’s to more laughter around the table! XOXO
Mamma’s homemade bread made with love!! And then toasted with her homemade applesauce. YUM!! More recently, every single dish from our family gathering — so much love and laughter!! I guess everything tastes better with family or friends.
Oh yes…toasted homemade bread with homemade applesauce? I’m chuckling just thinking about it! Love it!!
